Growing Basics
Petunias are annuals in Minnesota â they won't survive frost.
Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily). More sun = more blooms.
Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile soil.
Transplanting: Plant after the last frost. Plant at the same depth as in the pot.
Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Petunias don't like to sit in soggy soil, but they'll also wilt quickly if they dry out completely.
Fertilization: Feed every 2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer (10-10-10) to keep blooms coming all summer.
Other Tips
Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering.
If plants get leggy mid-summer, cut them back by about a third. They'll bounce back with fresh growth and more flowers within a few weeks.
Great in containers and hanging baskets â they trail beautifully and fill in fast.
