Including green zucchini & yellow squash. Prolific growers with mild flavor and tender skin—great for grilling, baking, or stir-fry.
Squash are annuals in Minnesota.
Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily).
Soil: Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil.
Transplanting: Plant at the same depth as in the pot when soil reaches 65°; handle gently to avoid disturbing roots. These guys don't like to share space! If your seedling container has multiple plants, cut all but 1 down to soil level (don't pull them out, you don't want to disturb the roots); otherwise, space them about 12" apart.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist; water at the base to avoid mildew.
Fertilization: Use balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) every 2–3 weeks; increase potassium during fruiting.
Other tips:
Mulch to retain moisture.
Harvest when fruits are 6–8 inches long for best flavor and texture. Pick often to encourage more fruit.
