Spinach

Dark green, crinkly leaves packed with nutrients. Excellent fresh or cooked.

• Spinach is an annual in Minnesota.

• Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade.

• Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil.

• Transplanting: Plant at the same depth as in pot; prefers cool soil (45–65°F).

• Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy.

• Fertilization: Fertilize every 4–6 weeks with nitrogen-rich fertilizer (e.g., 21-0-0).

• Other tips:

  • Harvest leaves frequently

  • Mulch to maintain moisture and control weeds.

  • Bolt-resistant but still heat-sensitive—plant early or in partial shade during warm weather.
