Including 8" and Pickling. Crisp and refreshing cucumbers are great fresh or preserved as pickles.
Cucumbers are annuals in Minnesota.
Sunlight: Full sun (6-8 hours daily).
Soil: Moist, well-drained soil.
Transplanting: Plant at the same depth as in the pot when soil reaches 65°; handle gently to avoid disturbing roots. If your seedling container has multiple plants, you can plant up to 2 seedlings right next to each other (i.e. cut all but 2 down to soil level, then leave them as they are to avoid disturbing the roots); otherwise, space them 8-10" apart.
Watering: Water frequently to keep the soil evenly moist.
Fertilization: Use a fertilizer high in potassium and phosphorus (5-10-10) every 1–2 weeks once flowering starts. Avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen to ensure proper fruiting.
Other tips:
Mulch to retain moisture and reduce weeds.
