Lavender

Fragrant herb with purple blooms used in tea, baking, and crafts.

• Lavender is a perennial in Minnesota but may need winter protection.

• Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily).

• Soil: Well-drained, slightly alkaline soil.

• Transplanting: Plant at the same depth as in the pot.

• Watering: Water deeply but infrequently.

• Fertilization: Fertilize lightly with low-nitrogen fertilizer or compost in spring and summer.

• Other tips:

  • Avoid high humidity and wet soil. 

  • Trim after blooming to maintain shape and encourage rebloom.

  • Mulch lightly for winter.
