- Squash are annuals in Minnesota.
- Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily).
- Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter.
- Transplanting: Plant gently into soil mounds when soil reaches 65°; avoid disturbing roots.
- Watering: Water deeply and consistently.
- Fertilization: Use balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) at planting, increase potassium during fruiting.
Other Tips
- Provide plenty of space for vines.
- Mulch to retain moisture.
- Allow fruit to fully mature on the vine before harvesting. Cure in a warm, dry place for longer storage life.
